Virat Kohli, who reached 500 runs in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with his 70-run knock against the Gujarat Titans, said that he does not think about these stats and took a dig at his critics at the same time.

“There’s a reason why you do it for 15 years, for me, it’s only about doing the work, people can talk anything they want to, they can talk about me not able to push on, all the talks about strike-rate, not playing spin well, but you yourself know the game better,” Kohli said when asked about reaching 500 runs for the 7th time in IPL.

The Orange Cap holder was also full of praises for Will Jacks, who scored a 41-ball century helping RCB to a 9-wicket win.

“Phenomenal, initially when he came to bat, he was annoyed that he wasn’t able to strike the ball as he wanted to. The only talk was to for him to stay calm, we know how explosive he can be when he gets going. The over from Mohit was the game changer, I was just happy to stay around and watch him go. I thought we would win in 19 overs, but to do it in 16 was absolutely brilliant,” he said.

In the match, Jacks struck a stunning hundred, Kohli slammed a half-century as they powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a dominating nine-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League here on Sunday.

Opener Kohli (70 not out) and one-down Jacks (100 not out) shared 166 runs for the unbroken second wicket to overhaul the target of 201 with 24 balls to spare.

RCB reached 206 for 1 in 16 overs.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans posted 200 for 3 after being invited to bat.

Sai Sudharsan (84 not out) and M Shahrukh Khan (58) struck fifties to take GT to the 200-run mark.

For RCB, Swapnil Singh, Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took a wicket apiece.
