IPL 2024 Orange Cap update: Sanju Samson back in top-five after RR vs MI match, Virat Kohli maintains lead

IPL 2024 Orange Cap Holder: Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson returned to the top five in the IPL 2024 Orange Cap race after remaining unbeaten in a nine-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Jaipur on Monday.

Samson made 38 runs to move up to the fourth spot over MI’s Rohit Sharma.

On Sunday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli was dismissed early in the chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders – a wicket that ignited his fury – but the former RCB skipper still leads the Orange Cap race with 379 runs, 55 more than Travis Head, who is second in the tally.

Head entered the fray for the top-run scorers of IPL 2024 following his quickfire 89 against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Every year when the Indian Premier League (IPL) season comes around, a lot of eyes are on the players who score the most number of runs in the season, thereby getting the Orange Cap.

Last season, current Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the Orange Cap with 890 runs. He was followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis who scored 730 and Chennai Super Kings Devon Conway with 672. RCB’s Virat Kohli was at number 4 with 639 while Yashasvi Jaiswal came in at 5 with 625.
