Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav who has taken this season’s Indian Premier League by storm is set to miss at least a week in action due to “soreness in lower abdominal area.” He was taken for scan in the afternoon.

“Mayank felt soreness in lower abdominal area and as a precaution we are managing his work load over next week. We hope to see him soon in the field,” CEO of Lucknow Super Giants Colonel Vinod Bisht said in a statement on Monday.

This effectively rules out the pacer for the matches against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders which are scheduled to take place on April 12 and April 14.

Yadav, just 21 years of age, had bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2024: a scorching thunderbolt of 156.7 kph in the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Mayank Yadav caught everyone’s attention when he clocked 155 kph during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Punjab. The 21-year-old tearaway pacer from Delhi has had an impressive outing in the domestic white-ball tournaments this season.

“I had a side strain at the Ranji Trophy camp, which ruled me out for three weeks. At the rehab, i felt a pain in my ribs, and after getting it checked, i found out that i had broken one of the chips in my rib cage. I am still bowling not bowling to full tilt” – Yadav had told the Indian Express during Ranji Trophy.

In LSG’s first game of IPL 2024, Mayank had made headlines by firing nine scorching balls that measured over 150 kph. In that game, he had picked up three crucial wickets while conceding only 27 runs. With his debut performance, Mayank had impressed two of the fastest bowlers in history: Brett Lee and Dale Steyn, who praised the young Indian pacer for his raw pace and potential.
