Cricket: Sophie Devine blasts White Ferns to victory in final ODI against England

The White Ferns have cruised to an emphatic seven-wicket victory in the third one-day international against England in Hamilton on Sunday courtesy of a masterclass from returning captain Sophie Devine.

After bowling the tourists out for the modest total of 194 in the 47th over, Devine ensured a stress-free chase for New Zealand, as they reached their target down with almost 11 overs remaining to avoid a sweep in the three-game series and finish a difficult home summer on a high note.

Recovered from her quad strain, the Devine plundered the English attack at Seddon Park, with her fourth six of the afternoon both raising her century and sealing the win for the Ferns.

She finished with 100 off 93 balls with an undefeated 105-run partnership alongside Maddy Green (38no).

"We knew that we're going to have to attack this English side that's played very good cricket throughout both series," Devine told TVNZ after the game.

"Obviously the pitch was a pretty tricky one at times but it was set up by the bowlers, and then to chase it down with overs to spare and wickets in hand, it just shows what we're doing is on the right path."

Jess Kerr was the pick of the NZ bowlers, snaring 3/39 off 9.3 overs, while Hannah Rowe claimed 3/42.
