Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals Playing 11, IPL 2024 In a battle of perennial underachievers in the history of the Indian Premier League Punjab Kings will take on Delhi Capitals on Saturday at noon in the newly constructed Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. home team Punjab would hope a change of ground might bring a change of fortunes.

Capitals on the other hand would breathe a sigh of relief as their talisman and charismatic skipper Rishabh Pant is back which will be a huge momentum boost for the side even before the tournament began as they had an abysmal start to the campaign last season losing five in first five. However, the nature of IPL is such that Pant won’t have any wiggle room or time to get adjusted to the pace of the game he needs to hit the ground running both as player and captain or it might be another sorry tale for Delhi.

Let us have a look at probable XI’s

Rishabh returns

Pant’s missing last season has not only hampered Capitals in terms of losing their captain but also not having a capable alternative to replace the dynamic Indian keeper-middle order bat disturbed their balance and batting lacked the power in the middle order. Towards the end, they would fix the issue with an overseas alternative in Phil Salt who would open and do well in a few games but it was too late for them y that point.

Prithvi Shaw’s big season

Shaw scored 106 runs from eight games at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.71. In the absence of Pant instead of stepping and taking more responsibility in terms of runs scoring Shaw digresses drastically so much so that despite the lack of consistent Indian star names Delhi had to drop him midway. 2024 needs to be a productive season for Shaw to remind everyone of the talent he possesses.

Harshal Patel’s revival

The death bowling specialist looked like a waning force in Bangalore. However, Punjab investing 11.75 crores on him has shown huge faith in his ability and he needs to deliver. He needs to regain his mojo from the 2021 season when he picked up 32 wickets. Patel in addition to his bowling is also a handy bat coming down the order which is much needed for the Punjab side whose batting falls off a cliff after number six.

Punjab King predicted XI: Prabhsimran Singh, Shikhar Dhawan (C), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Sikandar Raza, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Atharva Taide, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Harpreet Brar

Substitute: Rahul Chahar

Delhi Capitals predicted XI: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Rishabh Pant (C), Tristian Stubbs, Yash Dhull, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, A Nortje

Substitue: Prithvi Shaw
