Following their 4-1 humbling of England at home, India occupied the top spot in the newly released ICC Test Team Rankings. The jump in the red-ball rankings now has India reigning supreme in ICC Team Rankings across all formats.

Occupying a rating of 122, Rohit Sharma and Co lead the tally having two more points than Australia, and are guaranteed to keep the top spot despite the Pat Cummins-led side’s three wicket win against New Zealand to clinch the series 2-0.

India also sit atop the 2023/25 World Test Championship standings with a 68.51 point percentage from the nine games they have played so far in the ongoing cycle.

Meanwhile, in the ICC Player Rankings, Ravichandran Ashwin toppled Jasprit Bumrah to reclaim the number 1 spot in ICC Test Bowling Rankings.

Ashwin had finished the recent series against England as the leading wicket taker with 26 wickets that included two five-wicket hauls, taking his tally to a whooping 36 in the format.

During the series, Ashwin also crossed two big milestones – making his 100th Test appearance in Dharamsala, and crossing the 500 wickets mark. The off-spinner is only the second Indian bowler to have snapped more than 500 wickets in the longest format of the game. Only Anil Kumble (619) has more.
