Fashion designer Shilpi Gupta says, “Monochrome clothing, where a single colour is worn from head to toe, creates a slimming effect while prolonging the body.”

Suitable for any occasion, this look can be easily recreated. Gupta suggests visiting a nearby fashion boutique and shops where this look “can be recreated within budget”. You can choose a lighter fabric for your jacket such as linen, if you’d like to wear it on warmer days or embrace tweed for cooler temperatures. Gupta says that for a budget-friendly evening gown like the one seen on the South Korean star, stick to “jewel tones, classic blacks, and bold reds” to stand out.

She adds, “Accessory pieces like an eye-catching pair of earrings, a sleek purse, a cocktail ring, or a shimmering bracelet may set your look off. You can alter the style of your dress to fit its length and neckline, or you can strategically amp it up with classic stilettos or strappy heels.” For its luminous finish, satin is the ideal fabric for gowns, but you can select from other options such as charmeuse, brocade, or even lace for more texture. Either buy a readymade gown at a boutique or for a better fit, get it stitched by a trusted tailor. Pick minimal accessories and let your outfit speak for itself.

Go monochromatic with a little embellished blouse, bodysuit, or camisole that complements your bottoms.”
