In a proud moment for Indian luxury hospitality, Relais & Châteaux Suján Jawai has made history by becoming the only Indian hotel to feature in the prestigious World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024. The resort was ranked 43rd on the global list. This marks the second consecutive year that Suján Jawai has made the list.

The list, which was made after votes from 600 anonymous global voters, comprising travel journalists, hoteliers and seasoned travel specialists, determined the results of “The World’s 50 Best Hotels,” announced Tuesday in London’s historic Guildhall.

The 50 Best organization has released its second annual list of the world’s top hotels. This year’s list features properties from six continents.

Capella Bangkok, a luxury resort overlooking Thailand’s Chao Phraya River, has been crowned the top hotel in the world for 2024. Rising from No. 11 last year, Capella Bangkok also clinched the title of Best Hotel in Asia.

Italy’s Passalacqua, an 18th-century villa on Lake Como, claimed the No. 2 spot after topping the list in 2023. The luxurious Rosewood Hong Kong rounded out the top three.

Asia dominated the rankings with 19 hotels, including four from Bangkok. Europe followed with 13 hotels, while North America boasted nine.

Other regions that represented include Africa and Oceania (4 each), and South America (1).

The highest-ranked hotels in each continent were also recognised. Capella Bangkok was named Best Hotel in Asia, Passalacqua for Europe, Chablé Yucatán for North America, Rosewood São Paulo for South America, The Calile for Oceania, and Mount Nelson for Africa.

The full list of the world’s top 50 hotels can be found on the 50 Best website.
