This is what we were left wondering after watching a few Instagram videos that suggested having the combination for good generaland sexual health. So, without much ado, we turned to Dr Rituja Ugalmugle, internal medicine, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central to learn more.

According to Dr Ugalmugle, bananas are rich in potassium, which helps improve blood circulation, an essential factor for sexual health. “Bananas are high in B vitamins that are important for boosting energy levels and reducing stress, both of which can enhance sexual performance. They also contain an enzyme called bromelain, which is believed to increase libido and reduce impotence in men,” said Dr Ugalmugle.

Digestive health: High in dietary fibre, bananas aid in digestion and can help regulate bowel movements.

Energy: They provide quick energy due to their carbohydrate content.

Heart health: The potassium in bananas helps maintain heart health by regulating blood pressure and reducing the risk of stroke.

Curd (Yogurt)

Probiotics: The probiotics in curd can improve gut health, which is indirectly linked to improved sexual health, said Dr Ugalmugle. “Curd is a good source of protein, which is essential for muscle health and stamina, including sexual performance,” added Dr Ugalmugle.

Digestive health: Curd contains probiotics that support a healthy gut microbiome, aiding in digestion and nutrient absorption.

Bone health: It is rich in calcium and vitamin D, which are crucial for maintaining strong bones.

Immunity: The probiotics in curd also help boost the immune system by promoting a healthy balance of gut bacteria.

Combined benefits of banana and curd

When combined, bananas and curd can offer a synergistic effect, said Dr Ugalmugle. “Together, they provide a balanced mix of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, and minerals. Also, both foods support digestive health, which is crucial for overall wellness and energy levels,” said Dr Ugalmugle.

According to Dr Ugalmugle, the combination can help maintain energy levels and physical stamina, beneficial for both general and sexual health.
