‘New couple’ Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina took the ramp by storm as they walked for Gaurav Gupta at FDCI India Couture Week

It was the perfect ending to a grand show with “new couple” Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina walking the ramp for Gaurav Gupta on the sixth day of the ongoing FDCI Hyundai India Couture Week 2024.

The Archies co-stars beautifully complemented each other, with Khushi looking lovely in a silver fishtail lehenga, a matching full-sleeve blouse, and delicate cape-like sleeves pinned to her shoulders, and Vedang in a midnight black sherwani jacket with classic embroidered swirl detailing, matching black dress pants and polished black brogues from the designer’s latest collection, Arunodaya, roughly translating to early dawn, stood for elements ‘symbolising hope, renewal, and infinite possibilities’.

Allowing the outfit — which was adorned with thousands of dripping crystals, pearls, and Zardozi embroidery — to do all the talking, Khushi completed her classy yet elegant look with hair left open in loose waves, a multi-layered diamond neckpiece, pink lips, and subtle makeup. But it was the blush on her face when Vedang joined her on the catwalk that simply stole the show.

According to the press note, the collection “captures the serene tones of early morning with white, ivory pearl, comet mlue, petal pink, mauve, slate, sand, Bordeaux, and lava, blending tradition with innovation. Intricate embroideries, including Indian zardozi, cage embroidery, and colorful details, bring the dawn narrative to life. Sheer fabrics evoke the lightness of dawn, while high end couture pieces like opulent lehengas, saree gowns, and draped sarees showcase Gaurav Gupta’s craftsmanship and innovative spirit”. The collection also featured elements like metallic breastplates and reflective embroidery on men’s jackets.

Talking to Elle, Gaurav Gupta said, “Khushi and Vedang are the new couple, and it’s young love. Young, passionate love in this country. And I feel like, for me, they bring in a lot of hope for the future. This collection is all about hope and light.”

In the same conversation, Khushi added that it was her first time walking for a designer, and to offset jitters, Gupta was gracious enough to give her a hug backstage.

Also seen during the show were models in structured silhouttes, accessorised with glittering diamonds and emeralds, sleek pulled back hair and shimmery metallic eyeshadows. The stage had two ginormous silver hands with fingers folded in characteristic meditation pose, and a silver snake slithering between the digits, setting the perfect transcendental backdrop for the presentation.
