Shloka Ambani, Akash Ambani’s wife and groom-to-be Anant Ambani’s sister-in-law got the internet buzzing with a beautiful lehenga made with references from Kashmiri Jamawal shawl from the house of Indian designer Tarun Tahiliani.

Styled by Diya Mehta Jatia and Niriksha Poojary, Shloka opted for diamonds as her jewels for the night, opting for an elaborate neckpiece, dangly earrings with tear drops surrounding a flower with a ruby in the centre and matching bracelets on both hands.

Tahiliani took to Instagram to share, “@shloka11 wears our traditional Jamawar shawl inspired multi coloured lehenga. Featuring intricate Kasheeda work over hand painted artworks and further accentuated with kundan, the lehenga is paired with complementing bejewelled sleeve blouse and dupatta.”

If you’re curious about Kasheeda, the word has Persian origins and essentially refers to embroidery.

According to Rang Riwaaz’s blog piece ‘Kasheeda-e-Kashmir’, “A signature motif for Kasheedakari comes from the maple leaves and lotus flowers in various vibrant colours along with the traditional paisley motifs.

They also mentioned that “The embroidery is primarily done in two patterns, namely the Aari and the Sozni. Aari embroidery consists of concentric strings of chain stitch using a long hooked needle known as crewel, while sozni is embroidered in satin stitch using the traditional needle.”

With Radhika Merchant wearing a Bandhani lehenga for her mameru night, and Shloka opting for a Kasheedakari ensemble, the Ambani women have been embracing traditional craftsmanship and bringing to light the rich tapestry of Indian artisanry and heritage through their fashion choices for their family events.

For her second look of the night, Shloka wore a custom Tamara Ralph saree in white paired with a halter blouse encrusted with pearl embellishments. The bottom of the saree had intricate florals threaded delicately in complementing shade.

The back of the blouse boasted a thin delicate panel with bows on them. For her hair, Shloka opted for a high ponytail braided down her back, and diamond haath phool and earrings completed her look.
