Digital creator shares 64-year-old mom’s secret to ‘not looking her age’: ‘No Botox, no fillers, no gym…’

There is a large market for anti-aging products; after all, people are willing to invest money, time, and effort to look young. However, while aging cannot be reversed or stopped, it can be delayed — even with non-artificial means. “With age, the skin undergoes various changes. The face starts to lose fat, its natural glow and volume, and the skin becomes saggy resulting in wrinkles and fine lines. Although it is impossible to avoid aging, you can reduce the impact naturally,” said Dr Rinky Kapoor, consultant dermatologist, cosmetic dermatologist, and dermato-surgeon, The Esthetic Clinics.

As such, when we spotted an Instagram reel by Rohit Bose, a digital creator revealing how his 64-year-old mother doesn’t look her age, we wanted to know more. “No Botox, no fillers, no gym, just healthy diet. Mom’s 64 but she doesn’t look her age because she’s been consuming these anti-ageing foods for years,” Rohit, 35, shared.

According to Rohit, his mother Leena Bose always consumes these 6 anti-ageing foods:

Papaya: Rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, it helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines, giving skin a youthful glow.

Flax seeds: Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, flax seeds support skin hydration and elasticity, keeping it plump and smooth.

Pumpkin seeds: High in zinc and antioxidants, pumpkin seeds promote cell renewal and combat skin ageing.

Coconut water: This natural hydrator is full of cytokinins which help regulate cell growth and ageing, leaving skin fresh and hydrated.

Ginger: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger helps maintain even skin tone and fights off ageing signs.

Turmeric: Curcumin in turmeric boosts collagen production and improves skin’s elasticity, reducing wrinkles and promoting a youthful complexion.

So, we turned to Dr Kapoor to know more about such foods and whether these are truly “anti-ageing”.

Papaya: The antioxidant properties found in papaya help reduce aging signs like wrinkles, and expression lines making it an anti-ageing fruit. “Eating papaya can be rewarding in various ways such as it can help reduce inflammation, help with digestion problems, and reduce bloating. Papaya is packed with vitamins, fibers, magnesium, and antioxidants which are highly beneficial for maintaining overall health and well-being,” said Dr Kapoor.

Flaxseed and pumpkin seeds: According to Dr Kapoor, eating flaxseed daily can help reduce blood pressure levels, inflammation, and resolve digestion problems. “They are filled with omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and fibers which help in maintaining skin hydration, and elasticity keeping it smooth,” she said.

Coconut water: Drinking coconut water daily can be beneficial and help maintain overall health. “Cytokinins, a fruitful content found in coconut water are said to have anti-aging properties that can make individuals’ skin look youthful and nourished,” said Dr Kapoor.

Turmeric: Turmeric can delay or reduce the signs of ageing due to curcumin (beneficiary property found in turmeric) making skin look moisturised and supple. “Turmeric is that one ingredient that has multiple benefits on the body’s overall health if eaten daily in the right way. Turmeric can help reduce inflammation, boost immunity, and keep blood sugar levels in control,” said Dr Kapoor.

Ginger: Ginger is widely known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it is often used as an essential ingredient while preparing various foods. “This helps in making the skin look glowy and maintains even skin tone,” said Dr Kapoor.

However, having said that, it is also important to keep health issues away by regularly exercising and having a healthy diet and sleep schedule, added Dr Kapoor.
