Count on Deepika Padukone to consistently dazzle with her couture choices, making a statement every time she steps into the limelight. The versatile artist, who has embraced experimental fashion since establishing herself as a household name, recently showcased her style prowess at Umang 2023 in the vibrant city of Mumbai.

For the event, Deepika graced the red carpet in a stunning peacock blue Benarasi sari, sourced from her preferred designer, Sabyasachi. The rich blue fabric was adorned with intricate golden floral threadwork, providing a striking contrast. While a sari of this calibre typically doesn’t require an elaborate border, it’s Sabyasachi’s touch that sets it apart. The broad borders featured detailed floral patterns, enhancing the overall design.

Adding to her regal allure was the blouse with a close-up neckline, full sleeves, and exquisite button detailing. Deepika completed her look with a lavish Kundan gold set, complemented by matching studs. She tied her hair into a middle-parted sleek low bun, and the finishing touch included minimal makeup with neutral-toned smoky eyes, nude pink lips, and well-defined brows.

Whether attending promotional events or weddings, Deepika’s love for traditional six-yard saris is evident. Her collection spans various fabrics, from light organzas to timeless Benarasi weaves. What sets her occasion wear apart is her frequent collaboration with bridal couturier Sabyasachi. From sequins to gold prints, Deepika’s saris embody the ornate aesthetic of Sabyasachi silhouettes.

This isn’t the first time Deepika has chosen Sabyasachi for a major event. At the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, she exclusively sported Sabyasachi for both the opening ceremony and her morning look. For the latter, she opted for a retro appearance in a black and gold sequin sari with block-printed stripes and exquisite embroidery.

A year prior, she made headlines at the TIME100 Impact Awards, where she was honoured for her advocacy in mental health through her foundation, LiveLoveLaugh. Deepika graced the ceremony in a sheer ivory sari adorned with handcrafted sequins and threadwork, paired with a heavily sequined blouse featuring thin shoulder straps and a generous V-neckline.
