Delhi-based fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi marked her red carpet debut in a pink ruffled gown with an elaborate train at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, designed and stitched by herself. She stated that the ensemble took over 1,000 meters of fabric and an entire month to finish.

The soft pink gown had a strapless sequinned bodice paired with elbow-high gloves. Tyagi completed her look with a dainty silver necklace from CaratLane and slightly tonged tresses. She kept it fresh and dewy with a pale pink lip and bold eyeliner courtesy of the Indian makeup brand Mars Cosmetics.

Nancy has made it from the humble village of Baranwa, Uttar Pradesh, to the iconic red carpet at the French Riviera.

Taking to Instagram, Nancy shared some behind-the-scenes of her look:

Stepping onto the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as a debutant feels surreal. I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighed over 20kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the love and support from all of you. This is a dream come true, and I hope my creation dazzles you as much as your support has inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

The digital creator’s rise on social media was a product of the global pandemic. During the lockdown, she began churning out content showcasing her unique pieces modelled based on high fashion couture. With her sewing machine, she became popular for making elaborate pieces from scratch out of fabrics sourced from local markets.

Tyagi walked the red carpet as a part of the Brut India Squad. In a Brut India video, she was seen sharing in Hindi, “Mera dream bhi nahi tha itna bada, jidhar mein khadi hoon.”

Besides being honoured with nominations for the ‘Disruptor of the Year’ as well as ‘The Fashion Favourite Heritage Icon of the Year’ categories at the National Creators Award 2024, she was also recognised for her talent in the ‘Creators For Good’ category at the Femina award ceremony.
