The second day of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI was all about sustainability, featuring ensembles that were not only good for the environment but fashionable as well. Designers like Inca, Chola, and Urvashi Kaur presented their collections with stunning celebrity showstoppers, from Konkona Sen Sharma to Dia Mirza showcasing their latest creations.

Starting the day off was Dia Mirza who strutted down the runway for Inca’s “Love is a Verb” collection by Amit Hansraj. The collection note states: “It allows the designers, and hopefully, the wearer, to just be. To take it easy does not have to mean being frumpy — isn’t glamour, too, like love, a verb? It is this thought that undergirds the collection: movement, dynamism and never being stagnant.”

Dia donned a stunning metallic grey ensemble layered with black organza fabric. The dramatic knot on her waist and the statement neckpiece added to the charm. Her minimal makeup and sleek hairdo ensured the outfit remained the center of attention. The fluid silhouette of the attire was made possible by the choice of fabrics — a variety of silk and satin derived from the by-products of rubber and sugarcane that seamlessly adorned the body.

“I am truly impressed by the fluidity in Inca’s designs, which exude a sense of freedom and relaxation, making them accessible to everyone,” said Dia. “The fusion of sustainability with modern chic elements enhances the appeal of the collection.”

Presenting her collection, “Let’s Play,” designer Sohaya Misra of the label Chola had Konkona Sen Sharma and Neha Dhupa walk as showstoppers. Teaming up with the Tea Culture of the World, the collection took inspiration from a Japanese tea ceremony, marked by four principles of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. “Throughout the show, the idea is to weave a narrative of empowerment and self-expression, with models of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds on the runway,” the post read.

While Konkona wore a black two-piece ensemble, complemented with a flowy white organza top with a floral motif, Neha gave power dressing a new spin in her flared black pants, striped, white top, and asymmetric waistcoat. Her blazing red eye makeup and platform boots completed her look.

Commemorating her 15-year journey, Urvashi Kaur showcased her collection “Prana,” an extension of her “Renew” project that “breathes new life into archival textiles, embracing zero-waste, eco-design, and upcycling techniques.” Walking for her were distinguished luminaries like Ratna Pathak Shah, Tillotama Shome, Rasika Duggar, Shweta Tripathi, Mallika Dua, among others. Each of her muses’ ensembles were meticulously crafted and styled to serve as a tactile extension of their own personal identity.
