Taylor Swift's father Scott Swift under investigation for allegedly attacking Sydney paparazzo

Taylor Swift's father Scott Swift is being investigated after a Sydney paparazzi photographer alleged he was punched in the face by him at an after party for the conclusion of The Eras Tour in Australia.

The ABC reported Ben McDonald had been following the pop star as she was getting off a cruise of Sydney's harbour to celebrate the end of the Down Under leg of the tour.  

She had been disembarking with her entourage at Neutral Bay Wharf in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to Mr McDonald, when the incident is alleged to have happened.

Both of Swift's parents were on the cruise with their 'Anti-Hero' daughter at the time.

McDonald claimed "security personnel had pushed umbrellas into his camera and face, and at some point Mr Swift has entered the fray".

"He's charged in and punched me in the face," he said.

A statement given to the ABC by New South Wales police confirmed an investigation was underway. 

"Police have been told a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2.30am (Tuesday 27 February 2024), before leaving the location," the statement said.

"The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command.

"The man did not require medical treatment."

Scott Swift has been a regular fixture of The Eras Tour and has been praised for his treatment of fans during the shows.

At the first Sydney concert he was seen handing out sandwiches to people in attendance.

Earlier, in Melbourne, he treated random fans to AU$2000 VIP wristbands at the MCG venue.
