Seven years ago, General Fiyah - aka Lotima Pome'e - was catapulted into fame after performing in Three Houses Down.

Now, he's a bit more grown-up but reckons he's still the same old General Fiyah, "just a bit older and bigger!"

General Fiyah is the son of Rob Pome'e, one of the founding members of the beloved Aotearoa reggae band, Three Houses Down.

His childhood was like no other, performing to thousands around the world, winning multiple awards and his songs getting millions of streams online.

Now he's going out on his own, with the release of his single 'One True Love'.

"I knew that was the one when I listened to it, I knew we had to release that song," he said.

It's still a family affair for the 18-year-old with General Fiyah's dad writing the track.

"Usually my brother Charlie writes with my son but I had to step in and write my first love song!" Rob Pome'e said.

But General Fiyah's classics are still proving to be a hit with fans.

"This one time, I was at McDonald's and these girls started blasting my song out loud!" he said.

"I was like 'oh my days'... but it's good to get love from people even to this day."

He'll be juggling music with his studies this year as the singer starts at Auckland University next week.

"My dad does property and I want to continue on the legacy. I want to be a property developer in the future and be a musician and actor. I don't wanna limit myself to one thing!"
