Queen Elizabeth's rage over Harry and Meghan naming daughter Lilibet revealed

The late Queen Elizabeth was enraged by Harry and Meghan's claim that they had her permission to name their daughter Lilibet, a new book has reported. 

A new autobiography of the Queen by royal journalist Robert Hardman said she was "as angry as I'd ever seen her" after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly claimed she had been "supportive" of the name. 

After the birth of their daughter in 2021, a statement said she was named after the Queen, whose nickname among family was Lilibet. 

However, that news didn't go down well with Her Majesty, with claims she told aides: "I don't own the palaces, I don't own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name. And now they've taken that." 

Hardman's book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, also claims the pair were "rebuffed" by Buckingham Palace when they were asked to back up the statement in public. 

"The couple subsequently fired off warnings of legal action against anyone who dared to suggest otherwise, as the BBC had done. However, when the Sussexes tried to co-opt the Palace into propping up their version of events, they were rebuffed." 

At the time of the birth, a palace source told the BBC that the Queen "was not asked by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about naming their daughter Lilibet". 

That led to Harry and Meghan threatening the BBC with a libel claim, which never came to fruition. 

Lilibet was the childhood nickname of the late Queen, which was reportedly only used by a few in her close circle including Princess Margaret and her late husband Prince Philip. 

The book also claimed King Charles has now closed the door on actively trying to heal the reported rift between Harry and himself, with Hardman stating Charles "has done what he can and now he is King, there are many more things to think about". 

Buckingham Palace has yet to comment on Hardman's claims.
