Newshub staff have been called to a meeting for an "important business update" on Tuesday.

Staff were sent an email on Monday evening asking them to join in the newsroom for an announcement from Glen Kyne, senior vice president and head of networks at Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ.

Last week it was confirmed Newshub will close on July 5 as part of a wider restructuring of its New Zealand free-to-air television business which will see nearly 300 roles disappear.

Reports had emerged that WBD may consider outsourcing the production of a 6pm news bulletin for Three and ThreeNow.

However, during last Wednesday's meeting with impacted staff, Kyne said there was currently "no deal".

Newshub has requested comment from WBD.
