Oscar winner David Seidler dies while fly-fishing in New Zealand

Academy Award-winning screenwriter David Seidler has died while holidaying in New Zealand.

The 86-year-old was best known for writing The King's Speech, which won him the Oscar for best original screenplay in 2010.

"David was in the place he loved most in the world - New Zealand - doing what gave him the greatest peace which was fly-fishing," longtime manager Jeff Aghassi said in statement.

"If given the chance, it is exactly as he would have scripted it."

The King's Speech was Seidler's most acclaimed work, also winning him two BAFTAs and the Humanitas Prize.

At the time of his death, he was working on multiple projects including documentaries, limited series, and feature films.

Seidler is survived by his adult children, Marc and Maya.
